Evolution is an important aspect of Pokemon games. Evolution is not just about Physical changes. By evolving, Pokemons get big and strong (stronger than their Predecessor).  It also gives them a wide range of attack. Some desirable Pokemons can only be attained through evolution. Pokemons evolve when they meet certain level or by using evolution stones.The level of Pokemon increases based on their battle experience. Evolution can even change the type of Pokemon. But the nature and characteristics of the Pokemon are still preserved.

Stages of Evolution

Pokemons can be classified based on their evolutionary stage. Any Pokemon falls under the category of these four stages. Baby Pokemon, unevolved Pokemon, Stage 1 Pokemon, Stage 2 Pokemon.

One evolution Family

Pokemons in this generation have only one evolutionary stage. One third of of all Pokemon belong to this family. They are usually considered weaker than Two Evolution Families.

Two EVOLUTION FAMILY

This is the most common type of Pokemon Families. Most powerful Pokemons come from this Family. The Starter Pokemons of all generations belong to this family. Pseudo Legendary Pokemons also belong to this Generation. They are very powerful Pokemon that their power level match close to Legendary Pokemon.

Pokemon with no evolution

Some Pokemons have no evolution. These are the least type of Pokemon. There is a common misconception that Pokemon with no evolution are weak. That is wrong. Pokemon like Heracross and Skarmory are notably strong. Legendary and Mythical Pokemon come under this category.

Some Pokemons can evolve into two different Pokemons. Slowpoke and Poliwag are some god examples of this type of Evolution. For example Eevee can evolve into any 8 possible evolution.

Evolution by level

Upon reaching a certain level, Pokemons evolve. The level of any Pokemon can be increased by using them in battle. Each Pokemon has individual levels over which they evolve.

Evolution by Elemental Stones

One can also evolve Pokemon with stones. There are different type of stones for evolving different types Pokemons. Some are Leaf stone, Sun Stone, Thunder stone, Moon stone, Ice stone, Fire stone etc.

Evolution by Trading Items

Evolution of some Pokemon requires items that should be traded. Not all Pokemons require this but some Pokemons cannot be evolved without these trade items, regardless of their Level. Example, Machoke, Alakazam, Graveler, Gengar. Some trading items are Kings Rock, Metal Coat, Dragon Steel.

Evolution by condition

Some Pokemons evolve based on conditions like gender, location, learning a type of attack or time of day. After reaching that required condition, leveling up once will evolve them.

No we will see the evolution of all Pokemon from Generation 1 to Generation 7. There are a total of 809 Pokemons in the Universe. This list contains all Pokemons with evolution. Pokemon with no evolution are not included here.

NOTE: Pokemons with cross Generation are shown in their earliest generation of their appearance. For example, Elekid which appears in Generation 2 is shown in Generation 1 because Electabuzz appears in Generation 1. Let us see some ways by which the Pokemon evolve in detail.
